Completed Adding a teaser message to the webchat

Hello,

I've been looking for a way to add a teaser message, when a user has been on a page for a while. I.e. "Hi, if you have any questions or if you need help, feel free to ask here." Does this feature exist?

In the webchat embedding docs I did find these settings, but they didn't seem to change anything.

Below is a screenshot of my settings:

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hey Ville,

    The only thing that is missing in your code is the enableUnreadMessagesPreview setting. And please make sure, that you are using the latest version here:

        <script src="https://github.com/Cognigy/WebchatWidget/releases/download/v2.25.2/webchat.js"></script>
    <script>
    initWebchat(
    "https://endpoint-demo.cognigy.ai/817b28adeb279e8b2f175e63b0c7f0d71de7f00b6a9635efabad8339c8444a35",
    {

    settings: {
    startBehavior: "injection",
    engagementMessageText: "Hey can I help you?",
    engagementMessageDelay: 2000,
    enableUnreadMessagePreview: true
    }
    });
    </script>

  • Hi Alex! Thank you for the answer. I followed your article and managed to get the teaser message to appear now and it works very nicely.

    However, now I'm seeing the injection payload at the beginning of the chat, once the window is opened. This was hidden before adding the teaser message.

    I tried changing the related settings (getStartedText and getStartedPayload), but couldn't come up with a proper solution.

    Did I miss something or is this a bug / limitation?

    Thanks in advance!

    -Ville
